Topic: Employment Law Update - FLSA Exempt Versus Non-Exempt Classification 


In our Intro to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Overtime Compliance talk, we will cover 4 key areas: (1) what the FLSA requires of employers, (2) organizations and individuals who are required to comply with the FLSA, (3) overtime exemption compliance, and (4) record keeping and notice requirements. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how the FLSA functions, as well as employee classification and entitlement to overtime pay.  

Alexandra Towler-Bliss is an attorney focusing on nonprofit compliance and human resources and employment law with an eye toward workplace wellness and diversity, equity, inclusion, and true belonging. She is also a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy and regularly advises folks on how to get money to charitable organizations int he most tax-efficient manner. Alex is an entrepreneur to her core, running two small businesses- her law firm, Culture Connection Law, and her floral business, Towlers Flowers. Teaching other nonprofit leaders and business owners how to love themselves and their teams a little better is her warm fuzzy.
